Rocket Pure is pleased to announce sponsorship of the 2015 Chuckanut 50k Ultra running trail race held in Fairhaven, Washington, just south of the city of Bellingham.
Registration opens today, January 9th, for this year’s edition of the race on March 21st, 2015. Rocket Purejoins other high profile supporters like Black Diamond and Patagonia in supporting this epic and historic ultra running race.
The Chuckanut 50k is a classic in the Ultra world. 23 years running, there have been changes to the course and growth in numbers, but the race directors work hard to maintain the grassroots feel of the early ultra days while providing modern race day conveniences like chip timing, a sponsor corral, a post race meal and prizes.
Race Director Krissy Moehl says the event works to maintain the unique beauty of the Pacific Northwest, by minimizing trash and the use of excess materials. “This is a zero cup event, meaning the runners carry their own, reusable cup or bottle for on-course hydration. Likewise, at the finish line post run meal, runners are required to bring their own mug/bowl and spoon.”
The race starts and finishes in the northwestern Washington town of Fairhaven, about 85 miles north of Seattle. The Chuckanut 50K follows an inter-urban trail south of Bellingham in Fairhaven, before heading into Larrabee State Park and up onto the famous Chuckanut Ridge. Runners will get spectacular views of the San Juan Islands in the Puget Sound, some of the most remarkable and pristine scenery in the United States. The race then makes its way back to Fairhaven for the finish.
